Call for volunteer papers
International Seminar in Tokyo for Tackling Illegal Logging, 2007
- Response of the world to the Procurement Policies of Japan -

The committee in the Council for Tackling Illegal Logging Issue（Japan Federation of Wood Industry Associations）will hold "the International Seminar in Tokyo for Tackling Illegal Logging, 2007: Procurement Policy in Japan and Response from the World" on 26 -27 February, 2007, Tokyo Big Sight Japan.

Outline of the International Seminar

We will invite several speakers form timber supplying area to Japanese market. They will have explanation of method for veryfication by producer country about the legality or sustainability of the timber in line with the Japanese green procumbent guidelines and discuss this subject.
Therefore, we will accept volunteer paper for poster sessions by those who try to make veryficaion on the legality of their timber in each place.
The detailed information is as below.

1. Scope of Speakers
Managers responsible for the construction of verification systems or persons suitable to explain the verification system at verification-issuing organizations/exporters who issue or are preparing to issue verification on the legality or sustainability of export timber in line with the Japanese guidelines or at organizations guaranteeing the reliability of the verification in countries or regions exporting timber to Japan

2. Theme
Efforts in XXX to cope with the procurement policy of wood and wood products in Japan for Tackling Illegal Logging Issue.

3. Deadline
Deadline for registration (abstract submission): 25 January 2007

4. Contents and paper format
Abstract and full paper must be made in Japanese or in English follow the appendix guideline.

5. Procedure
Submitted paper will be published in documents distributed in the seminar after technical and format check by the Executive Committee of the Seminar and can be presented in the poster session of the seminar .
On the basis of discussions in the seminar, the paper will be put on the final report and the website of goho-wood navi.
