International Seminar in Tokyo for Tackling Illegal Logging 2007
Public Display Summary (News Update)

A public display area was set up in the seminar venue. Japanese enterprises and groups presented information on their undertakings to promote legal wood supplies by displaying presentation panels and wood products. The following is the overview of the groups and enterprises that participated in the display, and the contents of their displays.

Groups and Enterprises That Participated in the Public Display and Contents of Their Displays:

1. NPO Forest Stewardship Council Japan (Foresta)
Panels to present the FSC certification system were put on exhibit and brochures were distributed.

2. Kikuchi Kensetsu Co., Ltd.
The display table was assembled from wood products certified by a Japanese forest certification (SGEC) system, and brochures to introduce the SGEC system were displayed on the table and distributed to visitors.

3. PEFC Asia Promotions
Panels to present the PEFC certification system were put on exhibit and brochures were distributed.

4. Hokkaido Wood Industry Association
Panels to present houses built of timber from Hokkaido ("Northern Wood House") were put on exhibit and brochures were distributed.

5. Fairwood Campaign
The display introduced the Fairwood Campaign to encourage use of legal wood and wood products, and related brochures were distributed.

6. Japan Federation of Wood Industry Associations (JFWIA)
Panels to present the Goho (Legal) Wood Supplier Certification System were put on exhibit. There was a video presentation and distribution of brochures. There was also distribution of introductory brochures on the Asia Forest Partnership (AFP) made by JFWIA, and brochures related to illegal logging problems.
